AFCON Semi Finals: Nigeria To Play South Africa As D’Ivoire Battles DR Congo

South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Saturday night, beat Cape Verde 5-3 on penalties following a goalless 120 minutes to advance to the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations semi-final matches in Cote d’Ivoire.

The battle that stretched the South African to 120 minutes of extra time will see them clash with the Super Eagles of Nigeria who finished the job against Angola in record 90 minutes to qualify for the semi-final clash and waited patiently for the winner of the South Africa vs Cape Verde game.

Now with the stage set, the Nigeria’s Super Eagles will on Wednesday, February 7, try to see-off South Africa in the win or return home game. The Eagles will seek to deal with the South Africans the way the managed Angola. Recall that Nigeria, sent Angola home 1-0 after winning their quarter finals tie in Abidjan on Friday.

After a tense last eight clash ended 0-0 at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Saturday night, South Africa’s goalkeeper Williams remarkably saved four spot-kicks in the shootout to send Bafana Bafana through to semi finals. In the second semi finals match same day, hosts Cote d’Ivoire, will take on DR Congo for the finals ticket.
